  Electro-Mechanical Counter Plate
  Electrical impulses sent to an electromagnet caused the ratchet wheel to move around one step at a time. On the 10th step, a pulse was sent to the next counter, which thus recorded each full revolution of the previous counter. Counter plates were cascaded to provide further counting steps. Counters like this were used in the IBM 405.
