519
Serial Number:
Document Originating Machine / Reproducing Punch
The 519 was able to perform a number of functions. As a reproducing punch, it could duplicate a set of punch cards, or punch the information from one set of cards into different columns of the duplicate set.

The machine could also operate as a gang punch, where information from one master card is punched into multiple cards. A print unit allowed up to 8 digits to be printed on the output card set.

Additional features could include comparing input and output, summary punching the output from a tabulator or accounting machine, double punch or blank column sensing, and mark sensing.

Mark sensing involves the reading of graphite pencil marks on a punch card and punching that information into the card.

Typical performance of the 519 was 100 cards per minute. In the case of summary punching, the total cycle time including interlocking with the accounting machine was 1.2 seconds per card.
